  • Field Day Nets! Zoom Meeting!

Field Day will be June 27th and 28th…and yes, there will still be a Bored Net on Saturday morning AND evening. The Saturday night net during Field Day is always something special, with 25-30 participants, all punch-drunk with fatigue and excitement…it’s not to be missed. And something new we’re going to try also, both nets…

  • PVARC VCAST system

As many of you are likely aware, Paul Strauss and PVARC have been building a simulcast system in Ventura County. This is using several transmitters and receivers in key parts of the county, all on the same frequencies. The receivers compare their signals, and repeats the strongest input to the transmitters. IT works on UHF…

  • We’re Official now

Okay, we’ve been official for 6 years, but we are now an entity with liability insurance, which is the next step to bringing Micro Field Day back. The annual cost is very low for ARRL Affiliated clubs, but is still $200 per year. We appreciate everyone who has been supporting us through Patreon or otherwise.

  • ARRL Affiliated Club Status

As of April 14th, the Bored Net Group is now an ARRL Affiliated Club. The main advantage of course will be access to insurance, but there are other benefits as well, particularly drawing attention to the Micro Expo and Micro Field Days once we get those rolling again. So a big day! Thanks to Dick…

  • The Bored Net Group, KO6MZR

In February, those of us that have been running Bored Net events took a big step, and formed a club. This is not meant to be a club that people would join, just the people working on events like the daily Bored Net, Micro Field Day, the Micro Expo, etc. There are several benefits in…

  • Zak Cohen, N6PK/SK

As we all are aware, we lost our friend Zak on January 27th, 2026. We held a wonderful net the following day, full of memories and stories, and there have been several memorials and tributes. So why none here at the time? Honestly, I was quite affected by losing Zak, and I was busy with…

  • Time to push the HOA Bills through

This post is about the #ARRL efforts to shepherd HR1094 and S459 through Congress. These are identical bills that will give ham radio operators the same rights that TV owners have, and limit restrictions on antennas by local governments and HOAs. This is for all hams, not just League members. Background-over 80% of new construction…

  • 2025 ARRL Elections

In the ARRL Santa Barbara section, 2025 is a time when a new Section manager is elected, as well as elections being held for Southwestern Division Director and Vice Director. I was the only person to throw their hat in the ring for Section Manager 2026-2027, so that becomes an appointment with no election. I’ll…
